This Privacy Statement was published on May 24th, 2018.

In compliance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, further in this text referred to as ‘GDPR’), Slavonica Discovery s.r.o. informs the entities on terms and conditions under which personal data is used.

Slavonica Discovery s.r.o. created and maintains the research database, The Slavic Humanities Index (the Database), for scholars and students in the field. The database is available by subscription and is used by universities, libraries, and research institutions. When do we collect personal data about you?

When you interact with us in person, through email correspondence, by phone, by social media, or through our website or the Database.

Why do we collect and use personal data?

  • Send you information about the service that you have purchased from us.
  • Perform contractual obligations such as order confirmations, license details, invoices, reminders, and similar.
  • Reply to a "Contact us" or other web forms you have completed on our website and in the Database.
  • Provide you with access and services related to our Free Trial.
  • Send you marketing communications which you have requested. This communication requires your consent.

Our legal basis for collecting personal data

Collecting personal data based on contracts

We use personal data for fulfilling our obligations related to contracts and agreements with customers and partners.

Collecting personal data based on consents

The collection of personal data based on your consent will be done by using “Consent Form” that will store information related to the consent. Individual consents will always be stored and documented in our system.

What type of personal data is collected?

We collect name, phone number, title and email address of our customers (librarians) only for communication related to the Database. For our partners we also collect company’s name and contact information. We may also collect feedback, comments and questions received from the above in service-related communication and activities. We do not have or use any mailing lists.

Regarding users of the Database we collect no information whatsoever. We do not see, track, or store any search results or any personal data associated with it. Any search results emailed by users are deleted automatically from our email system.

Personal data which we retain only in relation to communication related to the Database and shall only be used for this purpose, namely to send emails with updates about the Database and answer questions related to the Database.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We store personal data to consider our need to resolve possible problems and answer your queries and to comply with legal requirements under applicable laws. This means that we may retain your personal data for a reasonable period of time after your last interaction with us. When the personal data that we have collected is no longer required, we will delete it in a secure manner.

Do we share your data with anyone?

Your personal data are not made accessible to third parties nor traded with. On the contrary, we care for its protection from the technical, organizational and ethical point of view.

Your rights to your personal data

You keep all rights to the personal data which we retain in relation to the administration of the personal data as defined by GDPR. You can claim your rights by contacting us at:

  • The right to request a copy of your personal data that Slavonica Discovery s.r.o. holds about you.
  • The right to request that your personal data to be deleted.
  • The right to withdraw any consent to personal data processing at any time.

The use of cookies

We use cookies (session-id) only for the duration of a session on our website and the Database. These cookies strictly necessary for the normal website and the Database functions and cannot be switched off because the website and the Database would not work properly. These identifiers do not store any personal data. They are exempt from consent according to the EU advisory body on data protection.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

Slavonica Discovery s.r.o. reserves the right to amend this Privacy Statement at any time. The applicable version will always be found on our websites.
